Book Review
The book is everything to quench your desire for adventure and thrill. A perfect storyline, undetected plot twists, scuffle and friendship and a murder mystery to solve. And while there are some already known characters, reading ‘All Roads Lead’ feels like a reunion, but with a hitch.
The plot opens with a sweet scuffle between Detective Inspector Holly Rivers and James Copperfield, on a crime scene. The murder of Eloise Hampton had stirred up trouble for her ex husband who first-hand reported the murder. Appalled, Charles declines outright. He’s never been an intruder and, besides, he has enough on his plate already, witg the divorce and the son. The entire book journeys through solving the case, which becomes gruesome after the body is found vividly amputated. While the two detectives relive their uncomforting past together, there is their professional commitment to look after too. And so, the book comes with a constant undertone of humorous melancholy.
There is a lot going on in the story, from professional fracas, to personal conflicts, manipulation of facts and actions that question humane dignity. However, its such eloquently presented, that nothing seems out of the blue. Its chronologically apt and it gives a great insight on human relationships with work, life and people.
The author, Gary Diamond, has outdone himself in providing almost a poetic imagery of beauty of the Georgian property and settings furthermore. However, the technical information and legal aptness of the book, renders readers in complete awe of the writer’s thorough research. It is written in a descriptional dialogue style, which makes the readers comprehend an actual conversation, rather than imagining one. This one peculiarity of writing style, makes the book, much easier to wade through.
The saga of Detective Inspector James Copperfield lives on with this second book in the series and is an absolute delight for the crime thriller seeking audience.
