Bill Bailey, Please Come Home by A N Stewart

Bill Bailey, Please Come Home by A N Stewart

In the heart of New Orleans, the power of music brings a special secret to a group of spirited cats.

Down in New Orleans near the river and railroad tracks, a young girl named Eartha took in many kitties to live with her in her shotgun shack. They loved this marvelous place with natural beauty and animals outside, and love, music, and flowers inside.

One of the shotgun shack kitties, Bill Bailey, was a cat who loved to wander and meow hello to the people he passed, wishing they could understand him. When he encountered some elder cats, they shared the secret to speaking with humans-the power and language of music. It wasn't long before Bill Bailey and his shotgun shack kitty crew were bounding with their brass band instruments in a makeshift parade, singing his namesake song all the way.

Families and educators of young children will delight in this story that showcases New Orleans, music, and the importance of community and interconnectedness.

Book Review:

"Bill Bailey, Please Come Home" is a really fun book for kids. It takes place in New Orleans, a city known for its great music.

The story is about a cat named Bill Bailey who lives with a nice girl named Eartha and some other cats. Bill Bailey likes to wander around the neighborhood and say hello to people, but they can't understand him because he's a cat.

Then some older, wiser cats teach Bill Bailey a secret - cats can "talk" to humans through music! Bill Bailey learns that if he and the other cats play instruments and sing songs, it will be like they are speaking to the people.

So Bill Bailey gets all his cat friends together to form a little parade band. They march along the streets playing brass instruments and singing "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home" and other fun songs.

As they parade down the streets of New Orleans, people come out to watch, dance, and enjoy the music with the cats. The book makes you feel like you're really there, smelling the flowers, hearing the jazz bands, and having a great time with Bill Bailey and his friends.

This book celebrates the wonderful music, food, and community spirit of New Orleans in a really joyful way. Kids will love reading about the cool cat characters and will want to get up and dance to the rhythms! It's a delightful story that spreads happiness.
